44nd International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition for Young Opera Singers. Final Concert

In the first week of June, Dzintari Concert Hall will become a global centre of opera, hosting the final of the 44th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition for Young Opera Singers, one of the most prestigious events in the operatic world.

More than 100 outstanding young talents from all continents will compete for the top honours, while the final gala concert will present the most brilliant voices – artists who will soon be heard on the world’s leading opera stages.

Many opera careers have begun with the Belvedere Singing Competition. The second prize winner of 2015, Lise Davidsen, will make her debut as Isolde in Barcelona this year. Mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina, winner in 2017, is celebrating successes as Carmen at the Metropolitan Opera New York, where Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, winner of the Audience Prize in 2019, made her debut as Liù in Puccini’s Turandot in the 2025/26 season. Angela Gheorghiu, third prize winner in 1990, sings on all the world’s leading opera stages, and last year’s winner Geon Kim appears as Posa in Don Carlo at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. The baritone has also sung there in productions of La Bohème, Rigoletto, and Carmen.
