This summer, the Porta festival steps outside the concert hall and into nature — a place where music resonates with particular authenticity. In collaboration with the horse farm Kroņi, a special open-air evening will take place on July 26 — the poetry concert “The Knife Within the Hear”.
The performance brings together the existentially charged poetry of Spanish poet Federico García Lorca and the music of legendary Latvian singer-songwriter Haralds Sīmanis, whose compositions are deeply influenced by Andalusian, Romani, and world music traditions.
The poetry concert is inspired by the historical 1980s production “The Scream”, in which García Lorca’s poetry was performed with music composed by Haralds Sīmanis. In this new interpretation, the material gains a contemporary stage language while preserving its emotional depth and musical intensity.
The performance features actors Guna Zariņa and Gerds Lapoška, together with musicians Ilze Grunte, Andris Grunte and Zane Šmite. The production’s visual artist and cellist is Dace Ignatova.
In 2025, the production already enjoyed five sold-out performances at Hanzas Perons, demonstrating strong audience interest and emotional resonance.
The horse farm “Kroņi” is a charming place surrounded by peaceful horses and nature, where silence and harmony offer a retreat from everyday rush. Located near Limbaži and Saulkrasti, among forests, ponds, and green meadows, it provides the perfect setting for slow relaxation and restorative calm.
